For the second weekend in a row, we stumbled over another market being held at Federation Square in Melbourne.
We parked in the bottom of Fed Square car park as usual, and walked up the stairs to find this…
Turns out it was the Melbourne Design Market, which was foundedback in 2004 as a forum for introducing new designs to consumers…and it’s been going strong ever since…
The Melbourne Design market is held twice a year…mid year and in November…with 50 stall holders selected by using stringent criteria.
This is a high class market with some pretty amazing products….a shopping heaven for those who love new and innovative design…or if you are looking for a gift with a difference!
There was plenty to see….everything from fashion…
Including some snazzy boots for kids…
To jewellery…
Leather goods…look at those bags….love….
And there were some pretty awesome leather men’s shoes…
There were even some impressive bow tie collars for furkids, including this funky design!
It was fascinating to see a 3D printer in action…got to love technology!
I adored this clock…how cool does it look!
I also loved these little bags…especially the yellow ones…but my husband reminded me of just how many bags I have in the cupboard at home….sadly, he does have a point…
The car park location gives the market a surreal, subterranean feel…and I have to admit it was freezing, and although there were heaters spread throughout, I definitely wasn’t dressed for being in a concrete carpark!
But we did find chai amougst the coffee to warm us up….
The Melbourne Design Market is one to definitely add to your calender…great products in unusual surroundings…but a word of advice, if you go to the mid year one…rug up!
