Today, my husband and I went to the Love Vintage & Retro Fair, and we had the most fabulous time!
It was just what I needed after a few weeks of feeling less then average!
A very big thanks to the lovely Tessa from Catch a Thief, who not only let me know about the Fair, but sent me some free tickets as well!
We arrived just after opening…just love this old building…perfect for a vintage fair!
And within 10 minutes, my husband had spotted a black velvet jacket…that turned out to be just his size!
I think I might have converted him to the idea of retro and vintage fashion!
We then watched a presentation by Miss Lily White, who recently competed overseas in the Miss Viva Las Vegas Pin Up competition and came runner up…a fantastic achievement!
We were able to catch up with her a bit later, and I had a photo taken with her…which unfortunately didn’t come out…but I was very excited to meet her!
There were some old cars on display, including this old Ford…you would need two car spaces to park this…seemed to go on for ever!
There were some gorgeous things on display….clothes, hats, shoes….even tea cup candles and cake stands..
There was some amazing fashion to be seen..and everyone seemed so much taller then me…should have worn higher heels!
But the highlight of the day was my husband treating me to a makeover by the Lindy Charm School for Girls!
Miss Sammy looked after me, and first put my hair in curlers and set it…
And created this…love it!
Then it was time for the makeup..
And voila, I looked like a new woman…thanks Miss Sammy!
I now am very keen to learn how to create this look myself, so will definitely signing up for one of their workshops next time they are held in Melbourne!
My very patient husband let me do some last minute shopping before lunch, and I hunted down a black patent bag…I am sure my nan, gran and Mum would have had a bag like this!
And I spied some shoes…two other ladies also were looking at these…even tried them on….so I moved on thinking I had missed out.
But when we came round that stall again, the shoes were still there…and they were my size…yep, had to have them!
The shoes I was wearing were starting to hurt, so I changed into these straight away…
And this was my whole outfit…not exactly matching, retro, or vintage…apart from the shoes.. ..but hey, the hair and make up were now perfect!
We really did have a fantastic time…even my husband enjoyed it…can hardly wait till the next one!
If you love vintage and retro fashion, The Vintage Love Fair is on till tomorrow….Sunday 18th May 2014….click here to find out more!
